Marcel Proust and his letters

Marcel Proust was among the most prolific writer of letters in the history of literature. 5,000 letters are documented and have been published. Yet, new, hitherto undocumented letters keep appearing. 82 of these – addressed to his mother, his closest friends, Parisian society ladies, fellow writers and literary critics – reveal new facets in the life of this influential author. The exhibition – organised by the “Literaturhaus München” - will be complemented by numerous documents from the “Bibliotheca Proustiana Reiner Speck”, among them original manuscripts edited by Proust and texts from people Proust corresponded with.
